2005

Interpretation Training
HIN ran a core interpreter training program from September 23 to December 9, 2005. 17 trainees participated in the program. This first-level course provided seventy hours of intensive instruction in the fundamentals of professional interpreting in community settings. Curriculum designed to enable the development of skills and knowledge in the following areas: professional conduct; interpreting theory and practice, and strategies for interpreting in a variety of sectors. 16 trainees speaking 12 languages completed the program. Curriculum updated to reflect recommendations emerging from previous training. Integration of language coaches into the training program.
